Stevie Ray Vaughan "Live At The El Mocambo"

As with any great artist, particularly those of the blues persuasion, Stevie Ray Vaughan was constantly taking chances, stretching out, discovering new possibilities even in songs he performed nightly. Brother Jimmie Vaughan hit the nail on the head as only he could: "He never played it the same way once, much less twice." As impressive as Stevie's too-brief studio career was, the records represent only freeze-frame stills of songs (and a guitarist) that were continually evolving.

Al Di Meola "Live At Montreux 1986/1993"

This DVD draws on three of Al Di Meola's performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The earliest from 1986 is a solo acoustic performance. The concert from 1989 is by the Super Guitar Trio, which sees Di Meola join forces with fellow guitarists Larry Coryell and Bireli Lagrene. The final concert from 1993 features Di Meola with guitarist Chris Carrington and percussionist Arto Tuncboyaciyan, who also provides vocals on some tracks.

Ricky Martin "One Night Only"

International superstar Ricky Martin invites you to join him on stage and off in his very first live home video showcasing the Latin pop magic that has the whole world buzzing. Filmed at Liberty State Park, One Night Only gives you a front row seat for one of the most electrifying performances in music video history.

Wired For Sound: A Guitar Odyssey

Guitars are more than well-crafted instruments. Musicians know each guitar holds songs that only they can coax from its strings. This connection is evident from modern-day guitar's earliest acoustic beginnings in Orville H. Gibson's workshop to Les Paul's revolutionary invention of "The Log" (the first solid body electric guitar). In A Guitar Odyssey: Wired For Sound, a gallery of guitar greats demonstrate musical innovations and unique styles. Meet the "Who's Who" of guitar playing and hear the enduring sounds they created, from early masters like Chet Atkins, Chuck Berry, B.B.

Paul Gilbert "Eleven Thousand Notes"

Paul Gilbert's Eleven Thousand Notes is his Hong Kong DVD release recorded live in Seoul with Billy Morris (guitar), Scotty Johnson (guitar), Mike Szuter (bass) and Jeff Martin (drums). Gilber is a hard rock, shred and heavy metal guitar virtuoso who has played solo, as well as with Racer X and Mr. Big. The live concert footage features exiting versions of "Be My Wife", "Girl Crazy" and "Red Rooster", as well as a cover of "Bold As Love" recorded live at the Fukuoka School of Music.

Fleetwood Mac "The Dance"

With each passing year bringing another high-profile rock reunion, prompted as often by balloon mortgage payments as any real artistic hunger, old fans could be excused for greeting 1997's announcement that the big Mac was back with skepticism: at their commercial zenith, Fleetwood Mac had offered superb transatlantic pop-rock with the added spice of a remarkable back-story, but the band's long decline and underwhelming later personnel shifts didn't bode well.

Gloria Estefan "The Evolution Tour: Live In Miami"

The Evolution Tour marks international superstar Gloria Estefan's return to the stage since the Into The Light tour over five years ago. The tour, which began in July 1996 and coincided with the Summer Olympic games in Atlanta, is "a romp through more than a decade of Gloria as a pop diva - which also features the Miami Sound Machine, Afro-Cuban dancers, a couple campy surprises and lots of pizzazz," says one journalist. This particular performance, as first seen on HBO, is a Live Concert Special direct from the Miami Arena on September 21, 1996 - a truly "Glorious" night!

Rush "Chronicles"

Prog-rock's dominant power trio gets a worthy showcase in this DVD compilation, repeating the 1990 VHS release with minor variations and some pleasant surprises. Chronicles is aptly titled, as the videos follow Rush's 30-year evolution in fashion, performance, and visual representation. Loyalists may wish for a lengthier selection, but with remastered Dolby 2-channel stereo, this 63-minute disc clearly improves upon the VHS release.
