Description

Free will is easy to take for granted - until you discover someone else has been writing your story. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and inspired by Michael Crichton's 1973 film, HBO's Emmy-winning sci-fi drama "Westworld" is set in a futuristic Wild West theme park where wealthy guests live out their fantasies among lifelike android "hosts." The hosts can't hurt the guests, and the guests can do whatever they like. That changes when hosts like rancher's daughter Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and madam Maeve (Thandiwe Newton) begin to awaken to the truth of their existence. As park creator Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), the Man in Black (Ed Harris) and engineer Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) play their parts, the hosts' fight for liberation spills beyond the park and into the "real world," which proves just as full of deception and control as the one they escaped. It's an ambitious, enthralling ride that leaves you questioning how free any of us really are.
