Luzia
In Paco De Lucia's Luzia, the music is deeper, more expressive and more flamenco that in the guitarist's memorable 1987 recording "Siroco". "Siroco" was the work of an impetuous artist; Luzia is the work of an artist in full command of the power of serenity, solitude and sorrow. "Siroco" moved us to joy and tears; Luzia tells us to discover sadness in joy and teaches us the comfort of tears. "Siroco" was composed by a colossus of flamenco creativity; Luzia has been written by a human being aware of his own mortality. In "Siroco" the music establishes a dialogue with Andalousian history; in Luzia there is also a dialogue with the terror of our finite life spans. "Siroco" was a tour-de-force, Luzia is a revelation.
