Synopsis
Settling for "good enough" can seem sensible - right up until real love walks through the door. Norman Jewison's "Moonstruck" stars Cher as Loretta Castorini, a practical Brooklyn widow who accepts a lukewarm marriage proposal from her dull, dependable boyfriend, Johnny Cammareri (Danny Aiello). While Johnny flies to Sicily to visit his dying mother, Loretta looks up his estranged younger brother, Ronny (Nicolas Cage), a hot-tempered baker who blames Johnny for the accident that cost him his hand. Soon Ronny has swept her off her feet and into a night at the opera. Meanwhile, under the same big full moon, the rest of her family has romantic complications of its own. Cher and Olympia Dukakis both won Oscars, and you'll see why.
