Synopsis

The truest love isn't always the one that sweeps you off your feet, but the one that's willing to let you go. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" begins in Gujarat, where the traditional household of renowned classical singer Pundit Darbar (Vikram Gokhale) welcomes Sameer Rafilini (Salman Khan), a lively young half-Indian, half-Italian musician who has come to study under the great master. Sameer soon meets Darbar's spirited daughter, Nandini (Aishwarya Rai), and the two fall passionately in love. But Darbar has already promised Nandini to Vanraj (Ajay Devgn), a kind, dignified lawyer, and when he learns of the romance, he banishes Sameer from India. Heartbroken, Nandini reluctantly marries Vanraj. When Vanraj discovers that his new bride still loves Sameer, he makes a remarkable decision: he takes her to Italy to help her find him, so the lovers can be reunited. As their search unfolds, Nandini must come to terms with her feelings for both men and choose between the love of her past and the husband who has quietly shown her what devotion truly means. Ismail Darbar's music, including the hit "Nimbooda," adds to the film's lavish romance.
