Cloud 9 (2005)

The people everyone else writes off sometimes just need a chance to prove what they can really do. Harry Basil's comedy "Cloud 9" stars Burt Reynolds as Billy Cole, a down-on-his-luck hustler who only stops by the Cloud 9 strip club for its free lunch buffet. Always on the lookout for his next big score, Billy hatches a scheme to turn the club's dancers into a beach volleyball team, figuring their looks alone will draw crowds and sponsors. His plan works, but as the team's popularity grows, the women want to be taken seriously for their athletic skills, not just their looks. Eventually, Billy comes around and agrees they deserve a real shot at glory and respect. D.L. Hughley co-stars as Billy's sidekick, along with Paul Rodriguez, supermodel Angie Everhart, former Miss USA Kenya Moore and pro volleyball star Gabrielle Reece. It's a lighthearted sports romp with a surprisingly sweet message.
