Synopsis
Kindness can seem like a small thing, but it takes real courage to hold on to it when life turns against you. Kenneth Branagh's "Cinderella" follows young Ella (Lily James), who promised her dying mother she'd always have courage and be kind. After her father's sudden death leaves her in the care of her cold stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and spiteful stepsisters, Ella is reduced to a servant in her own home, yet she refuses to give in to despair. When the palace announces a royal ball, she hopes to see the charming stranger she met in the woods again - not realizing he's Prince Kit (Richard Madden). Her stepmother makes sure she stays home, but a ragged beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) turns out to have a magic touch.
