Description
Empires look permanent right up until the moment they aren't. Set in the 1930s, "Indian Summers" takes you to Simla, the "Little England" in the foothills of the Himalayas where the British Raj retreats each summer to escape the heat. As the fight for Indian independence gathers strength, ambitious civil servant Ralph Whelan (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) chases power with help from scheming club owner Cynthia Coffin (Julie Walters). Meanwhile, his sister Alice carries secrets of her own, and young Indian clerk Aafrin Dalal finds his rising career caught between two worlds. Beneath the garden parties, the ground is shifting fast.
